7 Tips for Small Business DIY Videos during COVID-19 Coronavirus
Video helps show rather than tell about the product and services your business has to offer during these challenging times. Video also helps you emotionally connect with your consumers- which is so important as we are all in this together.
You’ve got Equipment!
You can create video through your smartphone (use a stand), Laptop with video software like QuickTime or an HD video camera on a stand.
Consider Facebook Live
Facebook Live is favored in Facebook’s algorithm. To get further value from your time investment, you could download your video from Facebook to add to other channels like YouTube or host the video on your blog using Facebook’s embed code as well.
Connect emotionally to your audience
Talk about how this crisis is affecting you and your business. Think customer first, many of your customers are feeling stressed. Offer them something of value, like tips, advice or even humor. We are all in this together, make your audience feel that.
What makes you different from your competitors?
Are you offering virtual consultations or delivery? Is it something new? Make sure to point it out.
Pay attention to your location
Aim for a plain background. Get your mess in order so the background is not distracting. Go natural vs using a green screen.
Use proper lighting
Daylight is better than artificial light at night- aim for a cloudy day or a shady spot.
Add Lighting- Use “daylight bulbs” to keep the light cool.
Daylight bulbs have color temperatures that begin at 4600K and can range up 6500K or higher. These bulbs give off light that appears distinctly shaded with blue and simulates the natural color of daylight, which is 5600K on a sunny day at noon
Use a big white piece of paper under you to bounce the light up and kill the shadows.
DIY Light Tip- Use a work light with Daylight Bulbs and a diffuser like Parchment Paper (non-flammable). Attach your work light to a chair with clips for instant lighting. Don’t have a work light? Try a flashlight through parchment paper.
7. Get organized
Write down your talking points and organize your thoughts
Create a shot list
Think through lighting
I hope these tips help! We are all in this together.
